The 5 Ps – sustainable entrepreneurship

Indaver uses 5 themes to outline its integrated vision of sustainable entrepreneurship: Policy, People, Planet, Prosperity, Partnerships. These themes correspond to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDG), a global partnership with the aim of making the world viable and ensuring it stays that way. Firms like Indaver make an important contribution to achieving the global sustainability goals. We have selected 8 of the 17 standard goals, through which Indaver can play a vital role.

Policy: anchoring sustainability in organisation

As a business guided by its values, we bring our activities together under the banner of a shared vision and mission. The most important external policy governing our work is the action plan relating to the European Union circular economy. At Indaver, we have a precise vision of the part we must play within the circular economy and how we can incorporate this in our corporate vision and our processes.

People: a safe workplace and a talented workforce

Our waste management solutions are not only useful for our clients, they are also useful for society. We can offer tailormade solutions because we invest in the safety and the expertise of our workforce. At Indaver, we all feel responsible for safety. We have invested in instruments, procedures, training and personal protection equipment. On the one hand, we want to attract and train talented people and, on the other, we try to support our employees so that they will continue to be motivated and involved and devise the best solutions for our clients.

Planet: totally safe, sustainable waste management

We strive to minimise the environmental impact of our work. We aim for minimum impact on air, water and soil. We are sparing with the water and energy we use in our internal processes. We are constantly looking for ways to reduce our use of raw materials. We strive to limit our carbon footprint in the transport of our waste. Our work meets the strictest environmental requirements. We recover the highest possible percentage of quality materials from the waste we treat. These materials can then be reused as new raw materials. We also recover energy from the waste treated. This energy is then supplied to the users in the form of steam, heating and electricity. At the same time, we protect the environment and the materials and food chains against pollution.

Prosperity: creating value

At Indaver, the creation of value is at the centre of our concept of sustainable production and consumption within the circular economy. Value, in terms of both quantity and quality, must be created and protected at every stage of the circular economy. As a waste management business, we play a crucial part in this. In order to achieve the transition to a circular economy, we have developed a growth model focusing on three areas: more efficient processes; organic growth; and revolutionary innovation.

Partnerships: working together to make a difference

The circular economy is based on cooperation. Everyone – public authorities, producers, research organisations and the general public – will be involved in this transition. We at Indaver know that this transition is only possible if we all develop sustainable commercial models and technologies. To promote these developments, we are having a survey carried out by a knowledge centre. We are establishing partnerships in the waste sector and throughout the industry as a whole. We are working in a consortium to initiate and carry out innovative projects.
