Reducing the total ecological footprint of our operations, and in turn that of our customers, is a key goal.
Striving for minimal impact
We invest in advanced technologies to limit the impact of our activities on air, soil and water. Thanks to efficient flue gas purification, the purified flue gases emitted by our plants comply with the strictest emissions regulations. We use water sparingly and make maximum use of rainwater and our own wastewater. We also ensure our activities have no impact on the soil. We take preventative measures against contamination of the soil and the groundwater on our sites and make sure that waste is dumped safely on the landfill sites we manage.
Striving for climate neutrality
We limit our carbon footprint from waste transport and waste treatment. To that end, we are constantly making improvements to our organisation and to our fleet to limit CO2 emissions from transport as much as possible. We explore rail or water transport options to make our transport even more sustainable. We analyse our plants and processes to see how we can improve our energy management.
Striving for balance
It is crucial to adhere to legal requirements and reduce emissions. But we need to balance the obtained reduction of emissions with the total use of energy and materials to achieve the desired result. We look at the total impact of a set of elements, instead of focusing on the impact of single element. If we focus on a single element and leave the other ones out of the equation, we risk overshooting the target.
