Experienced partner to government

Indaver works on behalf of public authorities which are looking for a specialist partner for their waste management. Indaver has been serving the public sector for years. As a result, we are familiar with its specific needs and can formulate a suitable response to all their requirements. We seek to build long-term agreements and always offer an individually tailored solution.

Towards a sustainable and cost-efficient waste policy

Waste management is increasingly a matter for the specialists. Public authorities therefore need a partner with the necessary know-how: both technical expertise and administrative and legal competence. Indaver helps public authorities to conduct a sustainable and cost-efficient waste policy, in which prevention, selective collection and high-quality processing feature prominently.
A few examples:

  • Indaver has been active in various public-private partnerships in Flanders for nearly 15 years now. Together with public partners we are ensuring that municipalities are able to keep their contribution for household waste under long-term control. At the same time, we are raising the level of service provided to the public and systematically increasing the recycling rate.
  • With local authorities in the Antwerp region, Indaver devised a plan for the Hooge Maey landfill site. Thanks to a sustainable remediation project and high-quality operation, the landfill site has developed from being a problem site into a power station which presents no risks to the local environment.

International expertise deployed locally

Every public authority organises its waste policy in its own way, often collaborating with neighbouring public authorities.  Indaver has the necessary experience inhouse to work within these complex collaborative arrangements. Our local employees are completely at the public authorities’ service, and can draw on the know-how and expertise that Indaver manages centrally.

A tailor-made collaborative set-up

Ibogem processing of green waste

Our collaboration with public authorities takes various forms, depending on the local situation, specific needs, regional processing possibilities, national and regional legislation and so on. Here is a selection from the possibilities:

  • Processing of specific waste streams.
  • Public-private partnerships for complete waste management or a specific aspect of it.
  • Joint investments in new plants.
  • Construction and/or operation of waste processing plants.
  • Specific projects.

Years of experience

At present the focus in the public sector in Europe is on Belgium and Ireland:

  • In Belgium we have been working closely for over ten years with public authorities via various collaborative set-ups: public-private partnerships, construction, management and operation of plants, processing of specific waste streams, and so on. More at www.indaver.be.
  • In Ireland we have been active in the household waste market for years: collection and processing of industrial waste that is similar to household waste, collection and processing of small hazardous waste on behalf of public authorities and management of recycling centres. The new waste-to-energy facility in Meath is intended for the processing of household waste. More at www.indaver.ie.
